Godly Discipline

Who likes to be disciplined? Anyone? Not me – just being honest! In fact, that’s really what kind of helped me get in trouble as a young adult; lack of discipline.

So if I wanted to learn a new skill, go to college, eat better, stop partying…and all that went with it…these were not easy life changes.

But then there’s godly discipline which leads to godly righteousness. Meaning, when we allow the Holy Spirit to convict us in our spirit that we need to repent or we need to make an amends, or we need to follow through with a commitment – when we allow God to make those changes inside of us, it will produce the fruit that we as believers deeply, and desperately want produced for the sake of Christ.

He can do it if we let Him.

Let’s pray:

Holy Spirit, You know where I need godly discipline and growth. Please reveal these places in me and help me to turn them over in surrender to You, Lord so that I may stay on the road that is Your way for me. I choose to accept godly discipline as nothing less than a sign of your deep love because You desire to change me into being more like Jesus; and that’s my heart’s deepest desire. Thank You for your faithfulness! Amen.
