David has been described as “a man after God’s own heart”.
But that’s not because he was perfect. Far from it – like any human.
But David knew God’s faithfulness. He knew God was (and is) good!
One only needs to read of his troubles to see that he had walked through some hard places. Mistakes, poor decisions, and a major league cover-up attempt too.
But he sought the Lord in great fervor. He knew God’s goodness and faithfulness even when he messed up. He knew God’s healing after great loss.
He knew he could cry out to the Lord of heaven and earth and he would be heard. Time and time again.
That’s one huge way to chase after God’s own heart; opening up and giving Him all of ours ♥️.
In recovery, we learn that if we are struggling and leaning towards the negative, that can be a slippery slope into old behaviors, so we are suggested to make a gratitude list.
How? Write it out if physically possible. Shoot for 10 line items but don’t stop if you can. You probably will keep going. That’s my experience anyway.
Can you see all the times God has been faithful and good? Does it change your perspective?
Does it start to rekindle your joy?
I’ll go a step further…share your gratitude list with a godly, trusted, and safe person in your life.
Not only writing it down, but sharing it out loud – you verbalizing the ways He has been faithful, will most likely increase your joy 🙌🏻.
Taste and see that God is good – then tell someone about how good He’s been to you 💛.
